Gemmology is the study of the properties of gemstones.
Students who explore gemmology enter a fascinating world where beauty meets science—an exciting
journey of observation and investigation.
In this module, you will learn about the chemical, optical, and physical properties of gem materials, and how
to apply them to identify a wide variety of gemstones.
If you combine this module with the practical days dedicated to coloured gemstones, you will complete the
full GB – Gemology Basic course.
Gemology Basic is the first official certification offered by HRD Antwerp, and it can be followed by GA –
Gemology Advanced to obtain the full Gemmologist Diploma.
